Product Framework In-Action
Select the + to learn about the methods and tools utilized in each phase.
Phase I: Discovery & User Research
Determine user needs and pain points by conducting user interviews, usability studies, utilizing surveys, assessing customer reviews, and analyzing market trends.
Phase II: Problem Definition & Prioritization
Use affinity diagrams to organize and group research data. Define P0, P1, and P2 priorities by developing a user journey map, empathy map, and Five Why’s worksheet to identify root cause. Define the primary user and articulate issues with a clearly defined problem statement and user personas.
Phase III: Solution Exploration & Validation
Use storyboards to visualize the user journey and wireframes to quickly ideate solutions. Collect real user feedback to determine best fit. Create lo-fi prototypes for usability testing. Develop hi-fi prototypes for final testing and iterate as needed. Produce mock-ups with sticker sheet to share with engineering for production.
Phase IV: Roadmap & Strategy Development
The product roadmap defines the vision and goals for the product, as well as the product theme, planned and ongoing initiatives, product features and enhancements, project timeline and milestones, dependencies and constraints that might impact the project, and success criteria and metrics. The roadmap informs stakeholders about the progress and next steps for the product.
Phase V: Execution & Agile Development
Cross-functional collaboration between engineering, design, QA, and other stakeholders, using tools like Jira, TestRail, and Azure DevOps, to ensure efficient production, iteration, and on-time delivery of the product.
Phase VI: Go-to-Market & Launch Strategy
Enable sales by defining the target audience, developing effective messaging, and positioning the product to drive adoption. Initiate demand generation through email, social, and paid campaigns. Track KPI’s and update messaging or tactics based on performance metrics.
Phase VII: Post-Launch & Continuous Improvement
Monitor user adoption, gather feedback, and analyze performance metrics to identify areas for enhancement. Tools like Mixpanel, Pendo, and Hotjar can inform decisions that refine features, address issues, and iterate based on customer insights to drive long-term growth and engagement.
